A wet track led to a total washout in FP1, with Romain
Grosjean leading the way from Daniel Riccardo mainly due to getting the best of
the conditions. Having tipped Red Bull to be the fastest car, there was hope for
us when the Australian took the lead, but he failed to set a lap once again and
as such we never got to see his real pace, with his fastest lap being a second
off Grosjean but still good enough for sixth. The fact that Sergio Perez got
fourth in the session may be testament to how many leaps he ran but it’s a good
sign for his wet weather pace and he might be one to keep an eye on. With the reception
of Vettel’s burst in Europe, P2 has gone to McLaren or Mercedes on every single
occasion at the eight Grand Prix’s we’ve had so far. With neither car so good
in the wet it’s hard to be confident but Lewis Hamilton was close to the pace
in the 1st session and with Mclaren needing data in the wet at the
Grand Prix they will want to win most of all, he should get some time out.
Fernando Alonso too would be very interesting if getting the time he needs at
the wheel and should be considered in play, while Schumacher would also be
interesting in that situation, having won 2 sessions this year.
Advice
1 pt Lewis Hamilton (4/1 general)
1 pt Fernando Alonso (9/1 Bet365)
